Read History with Jack 20 - Biological Engineering
As technology and society develop at an accelerating rate, new things and technologies keep emerging, one after the other. The development of research in science and biology enables scientists to work on technologies that might change our life forever, and biological engineering is one of them.
Biological engineering is a kind of engineering that allows scientists to modify or alter an organism at their will, so there can be superhumans in the future. Superhumans won’t only have healthier bodies and stronger immune systems, but they can also be immortal and can possess huge brain power. This technology will likely be realized because people want to see new wonders in the world, and they want to make life easier, better, and longer. We can integrate biotechnology, and micro and nanoscale technology with biological technology, creating new innovations of biological engineering.
This kind of technology will bring immediate changes to society. The public will pay more attention to biological engineering and discuss this technology. I think most people in society want to be superhuman. However, it can also bring some unrest in society. Some people will critically wonder if this is morally right or not? And this can even make society unstable and unbalanced, because only the rich or the powerful can afford to be superhuman. In the end, our society might even become a master-servant society; the superhumans will make normal homo sapiens their servants. In order to prevent these things from happening, governments should limit biological engineering and monitor this technology strictly.
There’s also the problem of miracle drugs that can lengthen your life. I don’t think this kind of drug can be distributed peacefully. The elites will probably control this drug and they will use it to fulfill their cravings and seek greater satisfaction. However, if the population keeps growing, this drug can bring great harm, and can cause violence in society.
