Read History with Jack 15 Critical Thinking
Opinions and ideas exist everywhere in our society. Some amazing ideas might lead to developments for the whole society, whereas some bad ideas might ruin and damage the society. Critical thinking skills can help us get rid of most of the unreasonable opinions and make the community a better place.
The definition of critical thinking is to question, reflect, suspect, and sometimes criticize an already existing idea or opinion. It strongly differs from regular thoughts due to the fact that you actually reflect and question an opinion. Normal thoughts come from thinking, not from suspecting or criticizing. Critical thinking is required when someone, or the authority, proposes an opinion or thought. You can ask yourself: “Is this viewpoint right or not?”, and then come up with solutions to make this viewpoint better or sometimes undermine the opinion by convincing people. Regular thinking is required when you create ideas yourself, or are negaging in casual activity, but not when analyzing ideas. You need it to think of new ideas and practice them to benefit the society.
There were many notable persons who practiced critical thinking. Socrates, the ancient Greek philosopher, questioned the rules and laws of ancient Greece. Copernicus suspected the geocentric model that claimed the sun was the center of the solar system. Abraham Lincoln questioned if slavery was a right thing to do and in the end fought to abolish slavery.
Critical thinking should be classified into philosophy. Philosophers think about the world and humans, they champion thinking critically of ourselves, the universe, and countries.
There are many ways to develop critical thinking skills. Decide and judge if the information or opinion given to you is appropriate. This means that you need to think critically about whether the information or opinion is correct to you, and whether it is appropriate or not. Moreover, you should differentiate facts from opinions. Facts and opinions are different. Facts are real whereas opinions might be wrong or not valuable.
Critical thinking skills are extremely important in order to survive this highly competitive world. It can help you to discern opinions and to question authority in an effective way.
