Three Cups of Tea 9: Availability of Clean Drinking Water
InThree Cups of Tea, the Hushe village couldn’t drink clean water until Mortenson built a special system. The state of availability of clean drinking water in the world is shocking.
In the entire world, nearly a billion people can’t drink clean water. Countries like Africa, Indonesia, and parts of China don’t have much clean water. This can result in diseases which make people very sick.
In 2004, the P&G Company initiated a program called the P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program. This program’s goal is to give children and parents access to clean drinking water in places where water is polluted. This program is very meaningful because it can make people healthier. A stronger body means that people can do more to develop their community. For the nearly 1 billion people without access to clean drinking water, more programs are needed secure a good water supply.
However, this program faced some challenges. For instance, corrupt governments might steal some funds, and what is left may not be enough to carry out the program. In addition, you need a good team to accomplish the goal.
If I were to initiate a program, I would choose to carry it out in Hebei Province because water pollution is terrible there due to factories and industries. I will create a team and make some speeches to the industrial companies to allow us to improve their ways of production.
I conserve water in many circumstances. For example, when I am brushing my teeth, I won’t let the water run the whole time. In addition, I try my best to be clean so I can save the water that is used for laundry. Also, I try to influence my relatives to save water too.
